Constant accessibility and continuous distractions from our digital devices demand our entire concentration. But it is also important to allow ourselves systematic phases of relaxation and recovery. Relaxation and concentration can be specifically trained through interactive neurofeedback.
In our workplace, we are increasingly surrounded by digital technology. Mastering the increasing digitization is a balancing act. The constant accessibility and continuous distractions from our smartphones, apps, and social media make it increasingly difficult for us to concentrate on our work. It is also important to allow ourselves specific phases of relaxation and recuperation. What if we could learn the ability to concentrate in a stimulus-flooded environment or to switch off completely between meetings?
Let's imagine an immersive world where you could learn the ability to control your own brain activity. Now relax - now focus! MindTrain makes this possible via a gamified neurofeedback training environment. This allows the user, to learn the ability to control their own brain activity using VR-based feedback. MindTrain combines the concept of implicit control of specific brain patterns with a mobile EEG wearable in an interactive and immersive VR environment.
In an empirical prototype study, we showed that MindTrain allows users to target relaxation and concentration states in order to promote subjective well-being.
Interestingly, participants showed varying abilities. It appears that there is a trade-off between a good concentration versus a relaxation state.
